Prom Day!

About the Event

Presented by Assistance League of Los Angeles, and hosted by Emerson College, Prom Day is an annual event that serves 120+ high school female-identifying students from the Los Angeles Unified School District who are experiencing homelessness.

At Prom Day, they step into a “pop-up” boutique and choose (and keep!) their ideal, new prom outfit—at no cost. The League provides dresses, shoes, accessories, make-up, and much more! Without Prom Day, these girls would be unable to participate in a high school rite of passage: Prom!

About Operation School Bell

Prom Day was created by members of our Operation School Bell program which helps vulnerable elementary-age children get to school and stay in school.

LAUSD Title I schools and partner organizations identify those children in greatest need and bring them to our Hollywood facility where they each receive new school clothing, grooming products, a backpack, sneakers, school supplies, a book, and a small toy or board game. However, children come away with more than new items–they leave with a sense of joy, heightened self-esteem, and hope for the future.
