A part of L.A. history for
more than 100 years
A recent UCLA study reported that there are more than 269,000 students in California experiencing homelessness, enough to fill Dodger stadium to capacity almost five times over. Students experiencing homelessness have double the suspension rates and chronic absenteeism. They are less likely to graduate high school and are significantly less likely to attend college.
The pandemic has exacerbated these issues, as individuals experiencing homelessness have increased by 9% in 2023 in Los Angeles County alone. Our organization has responded to this crisis by serving more youth and young adults than ever before. Expanding to virtual programing, contactless services, bi-lingual resources, new program initiatives, and increased outreach to ensure that the most vulnerable in our community receive essential items.
Assistance League® of Los Angeles was founded after WWI in a moment of national crisis. Dedicated League member volunteers jumped into action by providing essential supplies, childcare, donation drives, and more. 102 years later the League continues to adapt to the unique needs of the Los Angeles community. League programs make the difference.

Assistance League® of Los Angeles has grown and changed over the last century, evolving from a small local community service group into a national movement for good. Today the League is an extraordinary agent for change, one that improves the lives of 24,000 homeless, foster, and impoverished children in L.A. county annually. Its critical need services and education and arts enrichment programs respond to the present and future needs of the community.
