Overview of Position:
We are seeking a preschool teacher that will provide a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children three to five years old in compliance with California Department of Education (CDE) CSPP standards. This role is ideal for teachers that are enthusiastic about early childhood education and committed to promoting children’s social, emotional, cognitive, and physical development.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Develop an age-appropriate curriculum that focuses on the needs of each child in accordance with the California Department of Education (CDE), California State Preschool Program (CSPP) standards and early learning foundations.

Plan and implement developmentally appropriate lessons and activities with the teaching team; Submit a weekly lesson plan and use assessment data to inform instructional planning;

Assist in the development of appropriate curriculum activities which comply with Title 22, Title V, CACFP, CLASS and NAEYC best practices.

Implement teaching strategies aligned with CLASS domains (Emotional Support, Classroom Organization, and Instructional Support); Foster a CLASS-aligned learning environment that promotes positive teacher-child interactions.

Create and maintain a safe, inclusive classroom that supports children’s exploration and growth; Arrange the classroom to encourage active learning and independence; Ensure classroom materials are organized, age appropriate, and available to children.

Supervise the use of restrooms; change wet and/or soiled clothes; change diapers; assist in toilet training.

Work effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and those with disabilities and exceptional needs.

Maintain accurate records including attendance, child progress, observations, portfolios, meal count forms, and family communication.

Conduct ongoing observational assessments of children’s development by using the DRDP tool data.

Establish positive, collaborative relationships with families; Share developmental progress with parents/ guardians through conferences and daily communication.

Follow all CSPP, state, and local health and safety policies including emergency procedures and mandated reporting.

Monitor children’s health, behavior, and well-being throughout the day. Administer basic first aid as needed.

Serve Family-Style children’s meals in accordance with nutritional guidelines following, CDE and CACFP regulation.

Discuss all concerns regarding children, parents, co-workers, or volunteers with the Director of Assistance League Preschool Learning Center

Perform light housekeeping duties, including cleaning and sanitizing tables, sweeping floors, emptying waste receptacles, and maintaining safe, sanitary indoor and outdoor environments in orderly condition.

Other duties as assigned.
Education and Requirements:

24 semester units in ECE and 16 general education units OR AA degree in Early Childhood Education (Bachelor’s preferred).

Child Development Associate Teacher Permit or higher issued by the California Commission on Teacher Credentialing, or eligibility to obtain one.

Familiarity with CSPP Standards, CACFP, CLASS, DRDP Tool, and NAEYC.

3 units in Infant/Toddler Development.

Minimum three years of teaching experience in a licensed childcare facility.

Prior experience working in a state preschool program.
-
TB and Health Clearances; current immunizations record.
-
Current First Aid/CPR certification.
Qualifications:

Excellent written and communication skills.
-
Bilingual (English/Spanish) abilities are a plus.

Experience working with children with disabilities and/or exceptional needs.

Experience using state approved assessment tools (Desired Results Developmental Profiles – DRDP).

Experience working in a CLASS-aligned classroom or program strongly preferred.

Maintain punctual and consistent attendance.
