Anne Banning Auxiliary (ABA) was formed in 1955 and began as a service organization for young women. Named for the League’s founder, activities focused on helping children through a variety of fundraising events. As the group evolved, members wanted more direct participation with the children so they researched community projects that would resonate with the mission.
Operation School Bell (OSB) was adopted by the auxiliary and has grown exponentially since its inception. Today, OSB provides required school uniforms, school clothes, shoes, grooming kits, books, backpacks and other necessities free of charge to at-risk children referred by LAUSD. In addition to the on-site location, the auxiliary wanted to expand their reach and created OSB on Wheels. This 18-wheel mobile staging unit serves hundreds of children at each stop, improving the lives of thousands of children across Los Angeles.
