The Preschool Auxiliary of the Assistance League® of Los Angeles was formed in 1924 and at that time, its primary responsibility was to research the feasibility and need for a Day Nursery program. Soon thereafter, a committee was selected and city wide assessments showed that there was, in fact, great need for this program.
Parents were notified about the school and applications were accepted county-wide. Ability to pay was not a factor; everyone was welcome to apply. The auxiliary, and organization, strongly believes that all children deserve a chance to develop their skills and have an introduction to education.
Over the decades this auxiliary has augmented the cost of operations through major fundraising events and campaigns, and has provided their members year-round with a unique and fulfilling opportunity to work one-on-one with these wonderful children.
