Overview of Position:
Plans, supervises and implements an age-appropriate curriculum for children and designs activities to meet each child’s needs. Ensures the development and safety of children in compliance with relevant federal, state and municipal guidelines.

Essential Job Responsibilities:
  • AA degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development OR 60 college units with 30+ college units in ECE, child development, elementary education, or early childhood special education
  • Works effectively with individuals of diverse educational, socioeconomic, and cultural backgrounds and those with disabilities and special needs
  • Direct activities of the teaching team/teacher’s assistants under your supervision
  • Teaching staff supervise children’s safety at all times
  • Set up children’s portfolio system for organizing children’s observations and forms of evidence and documentation for CDE and NAEYC
  • Complete annual Environment Rating Scale for the designated classroom, following ECERS guidelines
  • Maintain records of each child’s progress, development and behavior for periodic reports to parents
  • Submit a weekly lesson plan based upon Desired Results and NAEYC standards
  • Maintain an attractive, safe, clean, orderly and happy classroom environment following ECERS, NAEYC and Licensing standards
  • Be familiar with emergency procedures
  • Provide weekly and monthly schedules of indoor/outdoor curriculum activities based on CDE and NAEYC standards
  • Follow CDE and CACFP nutritional guidelines with family style meals
  • Assist in the development of appropriate curriculum activities which comply with Title 22, Title V, CACFP, ECERS and NAEYC best practices
  • Attend CDE/CACFP/NAEYC licensing training and meetings as needed
  • Other duties as assigned

Education and Experience:
  • Associate Degree (AA) in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field (preferred) or equivalent of 60 college credits with a minimum of 30 ECE units required
  • Minimum three years’ experience working with children in a preschool setting
  • Strong written and communication skills

Qualifications:
  • Fingerprint clearance from the Department of Justice, FBI, and Child Abuse Index
  • Health and Safety Certificate
  • Health clearance, Immunization record updated with proof of TB test and CPR/First Aid certification
  • Teacher Permit required

Court Referred Volunteer Center (CRVC), an agency of the Assistance League, is responsible for helping Los Angeles nonprofit and public agencies recruit and manage the volunteers they need to successfully deliver on their missions. The CRVC program, which places more than 50,000 court-ordered volunteers with over 350 agencies every year, is currently recruiting a CRVC Referral Specialist. This position rotates to various courthouse locations within the San Fernando Valley as needed (Van Nuys/Chatsworth/San Fernando/Lancaster).

 

OVERVIEW OF POSITION:

This position will refer Court-Referred Volunteers (CRV) to participating non-profit organizations throughout the Los Angeles area, where they perform court-ordered work assignments. This position is also responsible for maintaining a positive working relationship with other Court Referred Volunteer Center (CRVC) staff, court personnel, and outside contacts. This position is 7.5 hours/day, Monday – Friday.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Accurately inputs client data into proprietary software program.
  • Interviews Court Referred Volunteers (CRV) and maintains control of interview process.
  • Ensures CRV referrals are consistent with court orders.
  • Maintains accurate CRVC information in client files.
  • Performs daily inspections of own CRVC intake work.
  • Maintains confidentiality of CRVC staff and client records.
  • Reconciles client intake fees collected and transaction records.
  • Maintains business attire suitable for Court environment.
  • Answers phones and performs various clerical duties.
  • Attends CRVC meetings as required.
  • Provides coverage in various satellite office locations as needed.
  • Treats all clients equally and with dignity and respect.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must successfully pass background check.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Comfortable learning and using various computer software programs.
  • Solid inter-personal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Valid California Driver’s License.
  • Have own transportation and a clean DMV record.
  • Valid/Current Automobile Insurance.
  • Enthusiastic team player.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years of college or equivalent in office experience.
  • Customer Service and clerical/office experience.
  • Demonstrated experience working within a multi-task environment.
  • Proficient Spanish speaking/writing a plus.
  • Cash-handling experience in service-oriented environment an asset.

CEO POSITION OVERVIEW
Board Governance: Works with Board to fulfill the organization’s mission.

• Responsible for leading the League in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
• Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and
accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to
make informed decisions.

 

Financial Performance and Viability: Develops resources sufficient to ensure the financial health of the organization.

• Ability to create and execute effective fundraising strategies including major gifts, grants,
and donor cultivation to support the League’s mission.
• Skill in building and maintaining strong relationships with donors, sponsors, and
community partners.
• Proficiency in writing compelling grant proposals and securing funding.
• Responsible for the fiscal integrity of the League, including submission to the Board of a
proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements which accurately reflect the
organization’s financial condition.
• Responsible for fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the
approved budget, ensures maximum resource utilization and maintenance of the
organization in a positive financial position.

 

 

Organization Mission and Strategy: Works with Board and staff to ensure the mission is
fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, and community outreach.

• Supports the Auxiliaries in the implementation of League programs that carry out the
organization’s mission.
• Responsible for strategic planning to ensure the League can successfully fulfill its
mission into the future.

Job Responsibilities:
• Reports to and works closely with the Board of Directors to seek their involvement in
policy decisions, fundraising, and to increase the overall visibility of the organization.
• Supervises and collaborates with organization staff.
• Strategic planning and implementation.
• With CFO, develops and executes operation of annual budget.
• Serves as the League’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the
media, and the public.
• Establishes and maintains relationships with various organizations and utilizes those
relationships to strategically enhance the League’s mission.
• Engages in fundraising and developing other revenues.
• Oversees marketing and other communications efforts.
• Works collaboratively with Board President in developing board meetings.
• Establishes employment and administrative policies and procedures for all functions and
for the day-to-day operation of the organization.
• Reviews and approves contracts for services.
• Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

 

Professional Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in relevant field of study.
• Five or more years of senior nonprofit management experience.
• Transparent and high integrity leadership.
• Experience and skill in working with a Board of Directors and a membership-driven
organization.
• High level strategic thinking and planning. Ability to envision and convey the
organization’s strategic future to the staff, board, volunteers, and donors.
• Ability to effectively communicate the organization’s mission to donors, volunteers, and
the overall community.
• Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
• A history of successfully generating new revenue streams and improving financial
results.
• Active fundraising experience. Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of the
funding community.
• Previous success in establishing relationships with individuals and organizations of
influence including funders, partner agencies, and volunteers.
• Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development, and
task facilitation.
• Strong financial management skills including budget preparation, analysis, decision
making, and reporting.
• Strong written and oral communication skills.
• Strong public speaking ability.
• Strong work ethic with a passion for the League’s mission.

 

Pay Range:
• Salary range starts at $180,000, depending on experience
• Generous benefits include health insurance, 401k with employer match, paid time off,
