Assistance League® of Los Angeles’ Operation School Bell program hosted another successful “Prom Day” event on March 21st and 22nd. Despite the rain, we had a great turnout for the pop-up boutique hosted on the stunning campus of Emerson College Los Angeles. Thanks to year-round contributions from volunteers, donors and sponsors of Operation School Bell (OSB), 185 teenage girls, selected from 61 schools in Los Angeles Unified School District, were given the chance to step into a “pop-up” boutique and choose their ideal prom outfit –complete with dress, handbag, shawl, jewelry and shoes– all at no cost. The girls also received custom fittings from volunteer tailors, personal sessions with makeup artists and styling from volunteers who assisted them in picking out the perfect “look” for their dream prom night.
Many of the girls are on track to graduate with high grades and high levels of school attendance – several near the head of their class- despite their challenging financial and personal circumstances, such as being in foster care or homeless. We are so proud of each and every single girl who we got to meet and dress that day! Congratulations and we wish you all the best for your prom and beyond!
