Celebrating 50 years of service, the Anne Banning Auxiliary hosted its annual “A Spring Affaire” benefiting Operation School Bell (OSB) at the Four Seasons Hotel in Beverly Hills on Saturday, May 7. The day began with a silent auction for some extraordinary items, trunk show fashions provided by designer Trina Turk, boutique shopping and an opportunity drawing. Participants in the drawing won some amazing items ranging from a high-end Givenchy handbag to tickets to a sold-out Beyoncé concert.
While a delicious lunch was being served, guests were treated to a runway fashion show featuring Trina Turk pieces, modeled by members of the glamourous Mannequins auxiliary. Honoree Debby Berg, was recognized for being instrumental in launching OSB through her tireless efforts and take-no-for an- answer attitude. Global Grins was also honored for their dedication to providing toothbrushes to people in need – they have provided over 20,000 toothbrushes to OSB.
The high point and most important purpose of the event was to raise funds to purchase a new trailer for future Wheels Day events. Thanks to the “Big Wheelers,” Corporate Sponsors and attendees of this event, the new trailer purchase has become a reality and will help Anne Banning auxiliary members serve a greater number of disadvantaged children in the LAUSD in need of clothing, shoes and school supplies.
