Change was in the air in the 1960s and 1970s. Hemlines grew shorter and hair grew longer! The Assistance League continued to move the legacy of giving forward to a future generation, creating new auxiliaries and closing old ones. The Anne Banning Community House (designed by famed LA architect Paul Williams) opened and the former headquarters was demolished to make way for a new Volunteer Center and the Family Service Center.
In 1966, the Anne Banning Auxiliary began Operation School Bell (OSB), a program to provide clothing and supplies to underserved children. Today, Operation School Bell is the cornerstone program of all Assistance League chapters nationwide.
