Children entering the foster care system are sometimes moved suddenly with few personal possessions beyond the clothes they are wearing. Two year old Kimberly knows that feeling all too well. Separated from her baby brother and birth parents, Kimberly moved to 4 foster homes within 6 months. She was ultimately placed with a foster family who noticed that she refused to remove her jacket and shoes, presumably out of attachment to her last belongings.
The foster family brought her to Foster Children’s Resource Center where she received new, clean clothing, a personal care kit, and other supplies. In addition to the tangible benefits, Assistance League’s Hilltoppers Auxiliary members gave Kimberly a fresh start to bolster her comfort during a difficult and vulnerable time in her life.
